Irish RS Aero Nationals take place this weekend in Greystones Sailing Club, home to a growing fleet. Scorie Walls from the Howth RO team will officiate on the Committee boat in what may prove cut-throat at the sharp end of the fleet.with quite the potential line up:
- title defender Paul McMahon from Howth who appears to race the nippy RS Aero so effortlessly,
- newly crowned French National Champion and Aero coach, Thomas Chaix from the National YC;
- his fellow club member and European Master Champion, Daragh Sheridan, European who is consistently difficult to beat on the regional circuit,
- Greystones’ very own Roy Van Maanen who last weekend took a few wins from the world champion and
- Noel Butler NYC dominating DBSC and regularly appearing on the podium on the international RS Aero scene.
A furtive ILCA sailor or two also hope to show up on the start line… potential flies in the ointment.
Race winners will be asked to share their winning strategic tips to the fleet over the weekend. Youth, Novice and Female prizes also up for grabs.
